Nunez named HBCUAC Pitcher of the Week in the final weekly honors of the regular seasonx

Southern University at New Orleans pitcher Christopher Nunez has been named the HBCU Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The honor is the final weekly award of the regular season, as teams gear up for the 2026 Hope Credit Union HBCUAC Baseball Championship.

Nunez delivered one of the most dominant outings of his career in the series opener against Wiley University, throwing a complete-game shutout and allowing just two hits over seven innings. He struck out 10 batters while completing the performance on just 95 pitches.

The shutout was Nunez's fifth win of the season.

As the regular season closed, Nunez and the Knights enter postseason play at the top of their game.
