Three SUNO Student-Athletes Earn HBCU Athletic Conference Basketball Player of the Week Honors
NEW ORLEANS - [November 12, 2025] – The Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) Knights continue to make waves in the HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC), with three student-athletes earning Player of the Week honors for the week of November 3–9, 2025.
Men's basketball standouts Dorian Booker and Aumad Hackett, along with women's basketball guard Katelynn Wilson, were each recognized for their outstanding performances that showcased skill, poise, and leadership on the court.
Booker, a dominant presence in the paint, was named Newcomer of the Week after abreakout performance against William Carey. The center posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, connecting on an impressive 9-of-12 shots from the field. His efficient scoring and aggressive rebounding provided a major boost for the Knights, helping SUNO remain competitive against a tough Crusaders squad.
Hackett, a freshman guard, earned Freshman of the Week honors. Running the point against William Carey, Hackett contributed eight points, three assists, and a steal, while going 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. His confident floor leadership and ability to control the tempo have already made him a key piece of the SUNO offense.
On the women's side, Wilson continued her stellar debut season by earning HBCUAC Freshman of the Week. The explosive guard led the Knights to a 4-1 record with an impressive week, pouring in 43 points across two games. She added six steals in a standout performance against Louisiana Christian, while shooting 44% from the field and a blistering 57% from three-point range. Wilson also contributed six rebounds, six assists, and one block, further solidifying her reputation as one of the conference's most dynamic guards.
"These honors are a testament to the hard work and dedication our student-athletes bring to every game," said James A. Matthews, III, SUNO Director of Athletics and Head Men's Basketball Coach. "Each of them embodies what it means to be a Knight—committed, disciplined, and hungry for excellence."
The Knights' strong individual performances reflect the continued rise of SUNO Athletics, as both the men's and women's basketball programs build momentum early in the 2025–26 season.
