Cornelious, Hackett Earn Weekly Conference Honors
NEW ORLEANS [November 18, 2025] – Southern University at New Orleans women's basketball player Hannah Cornelious and men's basketball player Aumad Hackett were honored Monday by the HBCU Athletic Conference for their performances during the week of November 10-16. Cornelious won HBCUAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week while Hackett garnered HBCUAC Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week. This is Hackett's second consecutive week winning the honor.
Cornelious played shutdown defense in the Lady Knights' victory over University of Mobile on Saturday. She had 12 defensive rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Her play helped limit the Rams' quality looks and took away second chance scoring opportunities. She ranks eighteenth in the NAIA with 11 blocks.
Hackett was instrumental in running the offense. He averaged 6.5 points and 3.5 assists per game. Hackett shot 6-for-13 from the field.
