Booker Making Impact, Earns Dual Conference Honors
Powering the Knights: Booker's All-Around Impact
Dorian "Pop" Booker continues to cement his place as one of the most impactful players in the HBCU Athletic Conference this season, earning both Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week honors for the week of December 15–21 following another standout performance for the SUNO Knights.
Booker delivered a statement performance on December 18 against William Carey University, recording a double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds in a strong showing on the interior. The dynamic forward was nearly unstoppable offensively, shooting an efficient 11-for-15 from the field, showcasing his ability to score through contact, finish around the rim, and convert high-percentage looks.
His performance against William Carey highlighted what has been a consistent and productive season for the Knights' newcomer. Through this point in the year, Booker ranks fourth in the HBCU Athletic Conference in rebounds per game (7.9), fourth in field goal percentage (61.3%), and ninth in scoring at 14.5 points per game. His efficiency and physical presence have made him a key component of SUNO's frontcourt on both ends of the floor.
The dual recognition marks Booker's fourth weekly honor of the season, underscoring his immediate impact and rapid adjustment to conference play. His ability to control the paint, create second-chance opportunities, and provide a reliable scoring option has been instrumental for the Knights as they navigate the heart of the conference schedule.
SUNO Men's Basketball Head Coach James A. Matthews, III praised Booker's growth and consistency following the announcement.
"Pop has embraced the work and the expectations that come with competing at this level," Matthews said. "His efficiency, physicality, and willingness to do the little things have been huge for us. What he's doing right now is a direct reflection of his preparation and commitment to the team."
As conference play continues, Booker's steady production and leadership have positioned him as one of the league's most reliable newcomers and a central figure in SUNO's continued success. With his combination of efficiency, rebounding, and scoring touch, Dorian "Pop" Booker is proving week after week that his impact goes well beyond the stat sheet.
