SUNO Knights Women’s Basketball Set for Home, Season Opener on Tuesday
Knights open the 2025-26 campaign against Louisiana Christian University
NEW ORLEANS [October 27, 2025] – The SUNO Knights Women's Basketball team tips off its 2025–26 season with an exciting home opener against Louisiana Christian University on Monday at 5:30 p.m. inside The Castle. Admission is $10 for the general public, while SUNO students get in free with a valid SUNO ID.
Although LCU holds the overall edge in the series, the Knights claimed victory in the last two matchups — a 97-83 win on January 10, 2000, and an 86-53 rout on February 14, 2000. After a25-year hiatus, this renewed two-game series offers SUNO the chance to write a new chapter and establish fresh momentum against a familiar foe.
This early-season contest serves as a valuable benchmark for the Knights to showcase their growth and set the tone for a competitive campaign.
"We're excited to get this season started," said Head Coach Destinie Smith. "Our team has put in tremendous work during the offseason, and we're ready to show what SUNO women's basketball is all about."
SUNO's attack will be powered by a seasoned trio of seniors — Jordan Harris, Kaylan Jack, and Tierra Sylvas — who bring leadership and scoring versatility. Sophomore forward JakhiyaSmith anchors the frontcourt, expected to make her mark on the glass and provide a strong defensive presence inside.
With energy high and expectations even higher, the Knights look to protect home court, energize The Castle, and open the season with a statement win.
