Volleyball Set for Divisional Battle against Tougaloo
Saturday, Sept. 27 | 12 p.m. | The Castle | Rodeo/Western Day
The Knights close out their homestand Saturday with a noon matchup against Tougaloo on Rodeo/Western Day, where fans are encouraged to break out their cowboy hats and boots. Admission is $5, free for SUNO students with ID.
Tougaloo (0–9, 0–5 GCAC) is still searching for its first victory of the season. The Bulldogs have struggled offensively, hitting just –.005 as a team while averaging 7.0 kills per set. Despite those numbers, they've been scrappy defensively, averaging more than 13 digs per set and showing the ability to extend rallies. Their recent four-set battle with Louisiana Christian highlighted their ability to compete when blocking and serve-receive click.
SUNO will look to carry momentum from Friday night into Saturday's tilt. The Knights' balanced offense features four players averaging at least one kill per set, led by Adkinson's playmaking and Berry's presence at the net. Senior right side Kendrece Dozier and freshman outside Kailany Alba have also emerged as reliable scoring options.
The matchup sets up as an opportunity for SUNO to control the pace. If the Knights can limit unforced errors and capitalize on Tougaloo's inefficiency, they'll be in prime position to start a win streak. With the fun Rodeo/Western Day theme in full swing, Saturday afternoon could be the perfect stage for the Knights to lasso another home victory.
