Women’s Basketball: Knights Defend Home Court Saturday
SUNO will return to The Castle on Saturday, November 1, hosting Harris-Stowe State University at 1 p.m. The Knights are coming off a thrilling season-opening victory over Louisiana Christian University, showcasing a balanced and relentless offensive attack.
Four Knights scored in double figures in the win, led by senior guard Jordan Harris, who posted 19 points and four assists, including two clutch mid-range jumpers down the stretch. Katelynn Wilson followed with 18 points and six assists, draining three three-pointers, while Kaylan Jack added 17 points and an astounding nine steals, sparking SUNO's defensive intensity. Tierra Sylvas anchored the frontcourt with 14 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, demonstrating the Knights' versatility inside and out.
"One of the things we talk about is showing up as our best selves, and the rest will take care of itself," said SUNO Women's Basketball Head Coach Destinie Smith. "Beyond that, the ladies who scored in double digits are returning players, so I knew they had this level of productivity in them. Last year was getting them to bond together. This year is getting them to be more confident and believe in that bond they've developed. We are focused on our game against Harris-Stowe and we will be ready with the same energy we had against LCU."
SUNO's success will once again depend on its ability to create turnovers, push the pace, and maintain offensive balance against a physical Harris-Stowe team. The Knights' chemistry and defensive effort will be key as they aim to start the season 2–0.
